The Creed, commonly called the Nicene Creed, is the symbol of our faith. It consist of twelve articles of profession of what is the basic believes of each Orthodox Christian. The Creed should be prayed at least once a day to reinforce our faith and our love of God. It was not written to specifically tell the faithful what to believe, but rather to defend against those that would breed confusion and falsehoods into God's Holy Church. It was started during the First Ecumenical Council held in Nicea, 325AD, and completed during the Second Ecumenical Council in Constantinople in 381AD. The Third Ecumenical Council, held in Ephesus 431AD, proclaimed the Creed as Complete and strictly forbad any additions, deletions, or alterations.
